Miller School Wins Reaccreditation

The Liaison Committee for Medical Education praised Miller School operations at its Miami campus, above, as well as at Florida Atlantic University.

The Miller School of Medicine has been reaccredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME), it was announced on Wednesday, Oct. 21.

The news had been awaited for more than half a year, following a multi-day, on-site LCME evaluation of the Miller School's Miami and Florida Atlantic University campuses back in February.

In this newest episode of UHealth's television documentary series Breakthrough Medicine, viewers will meet a young mother from the Bahamas as she fights to save her leg and her life. UM Immune Monitoring Lab Offering H1N1 Testing
Current recommendations are that patients hospitalized for at least 24 hours with an influenza-like illness, along with immunocompromised patients and other high-risk individuals, may require confirmation of possible H1N1 virus infection by a real-time reverse-transcriptase-polymerase-chain-reaction assay. According to the CDC, "confirmed" cases require further confirmation of the presence of novel H1N1 (2009) by real-time RT-PCR or viral culture. Important Reminder to Submit Electronic Applications Early
The use of computers and the Internet has increased dramatically in the past few years, changing the way research proposals are submitted and managed. Many federal and non-federal sponsoring agencies have implemented electronic systems to receive proposals and perform administrative tasks. While these electronic requirements are the "wave of the future," they can add to the time required to submit a complete proposal.
