Breakthrough Medicine: “Stem Cell Therapy: Healing Force of the Future”
The newest episode in the Breakthrough Medicine series, "Stem Cell Therapy: Healing Force of the Future," will be rebroadcast this Saturday at 7 p.m. on WPLG-TV Channel 10. In this episode, experts from the University of Miami's Interdisciplinary Stem Cell Institute use adult stem cells to repair organs and save lives. In one segment, a heart attack victim receives his own stem cells in hopes of repairing his damaged heart muscle. In another, patients with chronic wounds that have failed to heal with other methods, turn to a revolutionary study that heals broken skin.
